Here you will find everything you need for a successful application: from creating convincing documents to completing the selection process. We will show you how to present yourself in the best possible way and guide you step by step on your journey to joining the University of Graz.

The selection process

All open positions at the University of Graz can be found in our job portal.
For data protection reasons, applications can only be submitted online.
You will find the corresponding application link directly in each job advertisement.

This is what we need from you:

  • Curriculum vitae (mandatory)

  • Depending on the position: Letter of motivation, relevant certificates or supporting documents

  • For academic positions, if applicable: list of publications, research concept, references

Immediately after submitting, you will receive a confirmation email with a personal link. You can use this link to update your application or submit additional documents.

Once the application deadline has passed, we carefully review all submitted documents.

  • Unfortunately, applications received after the deadline cannot be considered.

  • For academic positions requiring a master’s or doctoral degree, only applicants who already hold the required qualification can be taken into account.

The review process may take some time. We will keep you informed about the progress of your application as soon as possible.

Please note:
The final selection decision is made by the hiring department. If you have questions about the status of your application or wish to receive feedback following a rejection, please contact the respective department directly.

If your profile meets the requirements, we will invite you to a personal interview - in the case of academic positions, we may also invite you to a hearing, lecture or presentation.

  • Duration: about 30-45 minutes

  • Tip: Prepare yourself specifically by relating your qualifications, skills and motivation to the job advert.
  • Important: Stay authentic. It is important for us to get to know you as a person.

After receiving an offer from the recruiting department, the Working Group for Equal Opportunities, together with Human Resources Management, reviews the formal employment process. You will then receive your electronic employment contract.

The first day at work is always exciting. We want new employees to feel welcome and find their way from the very beginning. Our structured onboarding program and welcome events are designed to support you along the way.
