Welcome Day for summer interns: Arrival made easy
When you spend your summer at the University of Graz, you become part of our FAN community. On your first day, you will get to know other participants and gain an insight into various areas of work.
To help you get started, an experienced colleague will accompany you as a buddy. This person will help you to orientate yourself in the first few days and answer your questions.
This will make your start easier and more personal.
Your internship at UNIversum
You will immerse yourself in the diverse working world of one of Austria's largest universities. Depending on the area in which you would like to gain experience, there are numerous internships available to you, from science-related tasks and organisational activities to involvement in projects and events.
An experienced colleague will be on hand to help you get started. This person will guide you through the processes and answer any questions you may have about your day-to-day work.
This will make your start easier and more personal.
Your training and further education programme
In addition to your practical training, you will regularly take part in seminars, lectures and excursions together with your trainers. These programmes help you to learn new things and gain additional perspectives.
Apprenticeship with Matura
With the consent of your trainers, you can complete the Apprenticeship with Matura programme and use part of your working hours for this qualification.
Internships at home and abroad
Would you like to gain international experience as part of your apprenticeship? This is possible at the University of Graz. From the second year of your apprenticeship, you can complete an internship in another company - even abroad - with the approval of your department or institute management and your trainer. Internships are offered through the IFA (International Exchange of Experts) organisation.

Exciting excursions
During your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to take part in various excursions. These will give you an insight into other companies, institutions and areas of work outside the university and familiarise you with different professional groups. This combines theoretical knowledge and practical training.
Experiences shared outside the workplace help strengthen team spirit, both with your trainer and your fellow apprentices.

In the Start Smart programme, new employees are accompanied by an experienced colleague during their first weeks at the University of Graz. The job partners provide orientation, share knowledge and answer questions.

Your extras as an apprentice
Cost coverage: The University of Graz covers expenses for further training, boarding school accommodation or the preparatory course for the final apprenticeship examination.
Excursions: Excursions are working time - so you gain experience without having to use holiday days.
Bonuses: You will receive a bonus for good grades at vocational school or for successfully completing your apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship with Matura: With the consent of your trainers, you can even use working time for this.
